The CXC from Ember Prototypes is a compact, camera assisted device that takes care of XY offset calibration on dual-extruder, IDEX, and tool-changing 3D printers, eliminating the need to print line patterns. Dialing in a printer has traditionally been a slow, painstaking task with plenty of room for human error. However, by shifting that work over to a camera guided routine, CXC removes the guesswork.

Simplicity and broad compatibility drove the design. This unit mounts on any 3D printer, and a complete calibration is finished in under five minutes.

Requirements

  • Windows PC (standalone application) or any OS through a cross-platform web app
  • Ability to jog the gantry in steps of 0.1mm or less and report absolute position
  • Ability to override XY calibration values, or tune the offsets in slicer
