Polylactic Acid (PLA) filament is one of the most common 3D printing materials used in the 3D printing industry. Our filament is made in the USA from only virgin raw materials. Triple-axis diameter measurements are taken on the production line and shared with you, so you know exactly what you're getting.

In short, we have named this filament Veracity as we have taken a very open approach: from disclosing the specific resin used to sharing the exact production line data on a per spool basis, we're valuing truth, openness, and accuracy.
Made in the USA, in Barberton Ohio by Keene Village Plastics (KVP). As a plastic extrusion company with over a decade of experience extruding 3D printer filaments, KVP has a serious committment to quality. Knowing you can trust who makes your filament is important, which is why we’re not rebranding or white labeling this filament. KVP is the original supplier to many companies including Makerbot, 3D Systems, and Lulzbot. All of KVP's production lines (15 in a 30,000sqft new facility, processing 500,000kg annually) are tied to a central production and quality control system.
Every individual product that comes off the line gets a unique bar code that allows us to track everything about that particular reel or Koil. The data is stored for 5 years, so if anything comes up during this time we can research that specific item. The quality database stores information that includes: production date, technician, line number, settings, material and blends and colors, and up to 250,000 measurements of the filament. All of the lines are monitored in real time and any product that falls out of spec causes a series of alarms on the monitor screens and line. That product never makes it out of the facility. We use a 3 axis laser scanning system on all lines unlike most other producers that use dual axis systems.
We're sharing that filament diameter data with you. As mentioned above, every spool's filament data is measured and recorded on the production line. This data is made available to you by looking up the spool's unique serial number. Here's an example of the sort of graph you can expect:

PLA is a good all-around material for 3D printers. With a lower temperature threshold than other popular 3D printing materials, PLA often extrudes at about 195°C to 215°C. A heated printbed is not necessary to render designs on PLA filaments, but heating the bed plate to 60°C can improve the quality of the finished product.
It only emits a slight odor, described as sweet, like corn or maple syrup, so a fume hood is not necessary when printing PLA. You can sand it down to achieve a glossy finish, and you can paint the surface with acrylic paint (some suggest using a primer first).
